The idea of the student’s project in the Open Science Lab − as part of the Morocco-German cooperation project − is to analyze the community capital with a social-ecological system’s approach. The community capital is the basis for the identification of the socio-ecological status and potentials for sustainable development in Agdz. Possible solutions are based on the capital assessment and should consider the creation of value chains (esteem and added values) for income generation to support local livelihoods, implementation of efficient water and soil management practices, ecosystem-based approaches for climate change adaptation, and conservation of biodiversity. The developed solutions should be embedded in the cultural-historical and socioecological context of the region and integrate gender aspects. The latter includes an analysis of the current gender situation in the Moroccan higher education landscape.
